What would be really special is if an external program that actually automatically changes the sampling rate and bit depth could be used! I believe this is one of the major things that keeps it out of the hands of more audio aficionados. Like I said this kinda thing isn't my strong point but perhaps someone else can figure out this holy grail of mine and a few others on these threads. I'm not affiliated with anyone and have no agenda to push other than it would be great to use such a great interface with something approaching audiophile sound quality. I figured I'd point out the link: Perhaps one of you geniuses out there might be able to figure it out. Again this is way beyond my scope as I am not very good at this kind of programming stuff. It seems one can replace it or add it in the case of XBMC. I figured I would point it out as one reader today just posted on a thread wondering why he couldn't use something other than Plex's audio player to play audio. However, a recent google search turned up something interesting but well beyond my technical mettle. The gist of the responses were this will never happen and that iTunes basically already does this (if you use proprietary file types). I always wondered, since both of these players actually rely on external players to do their thing, why their 'native' players couldn't be replaced with something more useful in an audiophile sense like audionirvana, decibel, Amarra, Fidelia ect. A while back I posted a forum topic wondering why front ends like XBMC and Plex couldn't be used with an audiophile external program for playback as both of these front ends offer excellent integration with one's file trees, and are very remote friendly.
